I told Kourtney that we were doing one fun thing each day of her birthday weekend. She said, “Well since it is my birthday I get to decide what we do.” I named off the things I had planned and she approved all of them. J

Talking to Kayla about Christmas. How everything about Christmas should be about Jesus. When I asked her why, she said “Becase its Jesus’s birthday!” I mentioned that maybe we could wear party hats on Christmas. Kayla shouted “And angel cake! With strawberries and whip cream!”

My kids are so CUTE! Earlier today Kayla fell on the sidewalk and scratched her hands and knees up. While I was sitting, holding and trying to comfort Kayla, Trouble came up and stood right next to us, pressing into our legs. Kayla saw this and said “Aw Trouble Bubble” (one of the many nick names given to him by the girls) and then started to poke him. I took me a bit to figure out that she was poking him because she called him a bubble. Silly girl. Glad we have such a friendly dog that can so easily cheer us up!

Grandma Sue was helping the girls get ready for bed. She saw Kayla put her boots next to her bed, then asked her "is that where your shoes go?" Kayla looked at grandma sue and said I'll leave them there. Mom will only get a LITTLE bit mad (holding her thumb and index finger close to each other).

Kourtney has been sleep talking a lot lately. I can't always figure out what she's saying but its not uncommon for her to yell out Kayla's name and some other stuff that I can't figure out. But she talks loud enough that I think she's talking to Kayla then I go in there to find them both alseep.

Kourtney is laying down in the hall, blowing up a balloon and letting the air out noisily, over and over again and laughing hysterically. :) She's also burping really loud because she's been swallowing air in the process.

Kourtney is SO happy this morning. She did yoga on her own, opened all the
blinds to let the sun in, has been dancing around the house and saying
"the sun is sparkling right above us!" in a sing song voice and
asking if she can go ride her scooter outside. It's 9:30 and she's SO happy. I
love it! Oh and Kayla is still asleep!

Kayla told me about red beetles this morning.
Kayla: Mom, I heard about red beetles. They're very dangerous but only for moms. So don't go outside at nighttime because that's when they are out. But... They only eat moms with yellow hair so you're safe.
Me: but what about aunt Kelli?
Kayla: will you call her? She can't go outside at night because the red beetles might get her.

I was cuddling with Kayla to tuck her in. Asked her if she had fun with grandma sue and uncle Dan when they came over today (aunt Maria and Savannah were out of town). She said yes. I said "yeah my mom and brother are pretty great." She said "brother?" I said "yeah uncle Dan is my brother. My big brother. And I'm his baby sister." Kayla burst out laughing. Thought it was really funny that I'm a baby sister ;)

Last week my friend Becky had picked Kourtney up from school (which Kourtney loves because she has a DVD player in her car) and brought her home. Kourtney got out of the car and started towards the house then stopped, turned around, and went back and asked Becky, "are you like the library? Can I borrow movies from you?" Then asked to borrow a movie from her.

Kourtney was telling me what she wants for her bday in September (5 months away) and asked for an iPod and bday money. Then she said, "You know what I want BEFORE my birthday? A big hug and a kiss from my mommy!" Then she gave me a good tight hug and big kiss. Love that girl!

Kourtney got an orange day today. She's so cute though. Becky dropped her off, she came in, sat down in the kitchen and was really quiet. When I asked how her day was she said "well I have to talk to you. Alone." (We were already alone in the kitchen). So I followed her to the living room where she patted the chair and said "and I need you to hold me." "Okay..." So I sat down, and she laid across me and said, "today I.....got an orange day." "Oh? Want to tell me about it?" "We'll..." Then she went off about a lot of things that happened that day. To sum it all up it sounds like she was just very chatty today. I'll email her teacher and double check. But I LOVE how honest she was and that she found a comfortable place to tell me and did it right away. She didn't wait for me to see her chart. Gee wiz we could learn a thing or two from kids, eh? Love that girl!

Girls and I were picking up the back yard and I asked who's baby doll that I'd picked up was. Kourtney responded that it was Kayla's baby. Then I started singing "baby, baby, baby, oooohhh baby, I looove you!" Kourtney said, "not that kind of baby!" I asked, "you know what the difference is?" She simply replied "yeah."

A few weeks ago I woke in the middle of the night (around 2 or 3 am), finding Kourtney in my bed, talking. She said, "Kayla, come here." I looked around for Kayla but didn't see her. Then Kourtney said again "Kayla, come here." It happened once more before I realized that she was sleep talking! She sleep talks a lot but I usually don't understand her. Guess that night she was dreaming of doing something with her sister.

Was helping Kourtney through an emotional melt down tonight. We started talking about Uncle Ben, Aunt Alexa and Blake. I ended up showing her the picture Ben sent of one of his blisters from his eventful 72 hr disappearance. She asked, "why didn't uncle Ben wear shoes?"

Our Kourtney is SO cute! I told her it was time to get dressed for school. She went to her room, put in the wedding singer cd and started shaking her shoulders. Then she bobbed her way to her dresser where she shook her bootie while picking out her clothes. Then she caught me watching her and threw up her hands and shook her whole body. I had a big grin on my face and told her "You make me happy." She said "You're welcome!" LOL Loved it! :D

Picked Kayla up from school. The teachers informed the parents that the kids learned about 9-1-1 today so to remind them the right times to use it. So I asked Kayla, "You learned about 9-1-1 today?" She nods. "When do you call 9-1-1?"
"When you have an emergency. If you fall and get a bump on your head."
"You call 9-1-1 for a bump on your head?" She nods.
"Who answers when you call 9-1-1?"
"The police...oh look! Its Kade! I'm going to marry Kade...in the forest! And we're going to live happily ever after!"
Oi, she's already getting distracted by boys!

The girls came up this morning and Kourtney asked if I really have a baby in my tummy (because usually my answer is no). I told her yes there is. She started saying "hi baby", and I told her that the baby would be growing ears soon so they should talk to the baby a lot so it knows their voices. She patted my tummy then walked away. A minute later she came back with a book and read a story to the baby. It about made me cry, it was SO sweet!

After tucking the girls in bed, Kourtney swallowed a quarter (9pm ish). After about 45 minutes of first trying to get it out by hand then trying to get her to drink water to make it go down, Mommy took her to instacare. From there we were put in an ambulance to go to Primary's but the paramedic was concerned about the drive. So they took us to Pioneer. But Pioneer didn't have the pediatric staff to help her. So after xrays, iv, and meds, we were put in another ambulance to go to Primary's. After getting to Primary's they had to approve a procedure to get it out. At almost midnight they approved a procedure but needed to take another xray to make sure they knew exactly where it was, in case it moved. I picked her up to go to the xray, and she started pointing to her tummy. She had FINALLY swallowed the quarter!! Even though we went to instacare, 2 hospitals and 2 ambulance rides (all over one quarter) we didn't have to do the procedure! I'm just happy she's okay and that there was no serious damage. Just a sore throat the next day. Praise the good Lord above for protecting our Kourtney! Since we were ambulanced to the hospitals, we had to take a taxi home, which Kourtney thought was so awesome!

Kayla has been sleeping in our bed with a tummy ache and is throwing up, but she hasn't lost her personality! After throwing up a second time she announced "it taste like......pickles!" Then when I was helping her rinse out her mouth she was her normal chatty self. Saying things like, "if I have to throw up again, I'll run.......all the way to the toilet and throw up in there. If I miss that would be bad." and "if I throw up....a lot....I'll....(opens her mouth and sticks out her tongue) die!" Silly girl, still making jokes and making Momma laugh even when she isn't feeling well.

Today was the JSKK 5.0 Utah Demo. Kollin's students did great! And Kourtney did so good too! She did Blocking Set and then Delayed Sword. Go white belt!! :)

Jumped on the trampoline in our pjs in the pouring rain. Watched a double rainbow form as the rain slowed down. Changed into dry pjs and now we're enjoying hot cocoa as my girls tell jokes and stories. Best way to spend a rain storm! Love making fun memories with my girls!!

Kourtney got scared of the thunder, lightning and rain storm last night (it was REALLY loud). Its the first time I've ever had to comfort a child like that during a storm. She was practically trying to wedge herself under me, between me and my bed, and squeezed tight every time there was a bright light or a loud boom. After the storm settled down, I told her that when the storm was over that she would need to go back to her bed (she does better if she has notice for something, rather than it just happening). She told me she didn't think it was going to be over until morning, then tried to scoot even closer, even though she was practically wedged between me and my bed. :)

Kourtney started Kindergarten today! She was a little hesitant to go in once they were forming lines, but didn't have any problems after that. After school, when I asked how her day was, she told me that she made friends with a girl with LONG braids. That's my social girl for you! :)

From there we were put in an ambulance to go to Primary's but the paramedic was concerned about the drive. So they took us to Pioneer. But Pioneer didn't have the pediatric staff to help her. So after xrays, iv, and meds, we were put in another ambulance to go to Primary's. After getting to Primary's they had to approve a procedure to get it out. At almost midnight they approved a procedure but needed to take another xray to make sure they knew exactly where it was, in case it moved. I picked her up to go to the xray, and she started pointing to her tummy. She had FINALLY swallowed the quarter!! Even though we went to instacare, 2 hospitals and 2 ambulance rides (all over one quarter) we didn't have to do the procedure! I'm just happy she's okay and that there was no serious damage. Just a sore throat the next day. Praise the good Lord above for protecting our Kourtney! Since we were ambulanced to the hospitals, we had to take a taxi home, which Kourtney thought was so awesome!

At soccer skills class. Playing a scrimmage. Kayla is running with a boy who has the ball. "I want the ball. Will you please give it to me?" She's so polite! :D

Kayla has been sleeping in our bed with a tummy ache and is throwing up, but she hasn't lost her personality! After throwing up a second time she announced "it taste like......pickles!" Then when I was helping her rinse out her mouth she was her normal chatty self. Saying things like, "if I have to throw up again, I'll run.......all the way to the toilet and throw up in there. If I miss that would be bad." and "if I throw up....a lot....I'll....(opens her mouth and sticks out her tongue) die!" Silly girl, still making jokes and making Momma laugh even when she isn't feeling well.

Kayla and I jumped on the trampoline in the rain, did a little mini yoga session and now we're watching Hook together. Love my kids SO SO much!!!

Today was the JSKK 5.0 Utah Demo. Kollin's students did great! And Kourtney did so good too! She did Blocking Set and then Delayed Sword. Go white belt!! :)

Jumped on the trampoline in our pjs in the pouring rain. Watched a double rainbow form as the rain slowed down. Changed into dry pjs and now we're enjoying hot cocoa as my girls tell jokes and stories. Best way to spend a rain storm! Love making fun memories with my girls!!

Kourtney got scared of the thunder, lightning and rain storm last night (it was REALLY loud). Its the first time I've ever had to comfort a child like that during a storm. She was practically trying to wedge herself under me, between me and my bed, and squeezed tight every time there was a bright light or a loud boom. After the storm settled down, I told her that when the storm was over that she would need to go back to her bed (she does better if she has notice for something, rather than it just happening). She told me she didn't think it was going to be over until morning, then tried to scoot even closer, even though she was practically wedged between me and my bed. :)

Kourtney started Kindergarten today! She was a little hesitant to go in once they were forming lines, but didn't have any problems after that. After school, when I asked how her day was, she told me that she made friends with a girl with LONG braids. That's my social girl for you! :)

Kourtney suddenly started calling out "Daddy!" I went in and started rubbing her back and she opened her eyes, looked at me and said, "I want Daddy." I think she mighta had a dream with Daddy in it and was missing him."

Kourtney: Mommy, my necklace broke.
Mommy: Yep, sure did. I'll try to fix it but I'm not sure if I can.
Kourtney: (as she walks away) Daddy can fix everything.

Kourtney saying the prayer for lunch. "...please bless Daddy to be safe on his motorcycle, and that the storm won't knock him over..." Such a cute kid. She sure loves her Daddy!

Picked up Kayla from school, got in the car and headed to go pick up Kourtney.
Mommy: So Kiddo, how was school?
Kayla: It was good!
Mommy: what did you learn about?
Kayla: Let me show you! (puts on the hat she made) I'm Johnny Appleseed! (BIG grin)

Kayla and Mommy were talking and she saw my teeth.
Kayla: Uh oh Mommy. your 'teef' is falling out!
Mommy: My teeth?
Kayla: Yeah
Mommy: oh you mean this tooth?
Kayla nods her head.
Mommy: don't worry its not falling out, it just looks like it.
Kayla: you have to go to the dentist.
Mommy: I have to go to the dentist for my tooth?
Kayla: yeah so it doesn't fall out! You need to go to the dentist so you can keep you 'toof' in!

Kayla's first day of Preschool
Okay I really thought this had been posted...apparently not.
Kayla started preschool this week too! She was a little hesitant on her first day, but when I picked her up, she had this huge grin on her face and she was SO excited about "my school"!

Now that Kayla has been in preschool for a month, I can say that she still loves it! Its not uncommon for her to tell me how much she loves her school or how much fun she had at school. And usually when I ask her what she learned, she'll say "Let me show you." Love it!!

Last week after church Kourtney came home and announced she wanted to serve a mission. When Daddy asked where she wanted to go she said "In outer space!"

Kourtney's First Day of Preschool, Again
Because Kourtney was born on the 30th of September she misses the age deadline by about 3 weeks. So, she's going to preschool again this year, but to a different one. She's 2 days into it and so far she LOVES it.
Yay for loving school! :)
